As a Dallas engagement photographer, I am always excited to photograph couples celebrating such a significant moment in their lives. Ashley and Gabby’s session was so special, and I had a blast working with them. Their joy and love are absolutely contagious. Their story is just as beautiful as their engagement photos.
Ashley and Gabby found each other two weeks after everyone went into lockdown. Ashley, who was living in LA at the time, came across Gabby’s profile on OK Cupid. Although Gabby was halfway across the country in Fort Worth, TX, Ashley took a chance. It wasn’t long before the two were spending hours and late nights on the phone and FaceTime. When you know, you know.

Two days later, Ashley bought tickets to visit Gabby on her birthday, just a few months away.
Like so many other new couples in 2020, the start of their relationship was different. But even before that first in-person date, Ashley knew that she wanted to move back to Texas to be with Gabby. Two months and one job transfer later, Ashley was in Texas – and it was her best decision ever.
While they both agree that their first date was “weird at first,” the day was special. After spending months talking and getting to know each other, they could finally – for the first time – see and be with each other in person. Yeah, they did everyday things, but that’s what made the day so memorable. It’s the little things, right?
Ashley and Gabby both knew early on that this was it. They had found their life partners.
As for popping the question, the couple decided to propose to each other. After all, marriage isn’t a one-sided decision. So, they planned their proposal weekend together (unfortunately, I didn’t get to wear my Dallas surprise proposal photographer hat for this one).
The two headed to San Antonio, where they took a romantic boat ride down the River. After dinner, the two walked down to Marriage Island, a beautiful spot that’s popular for – you guessed it – proposals.
Ashley popped the question first. Gabby accepted, but the moment wasn’t over yet. It was Gabby’s turn to pull out a ring and propose.
I’m so glad that we connected to bring this fun engagement photo session to life. While the two said they were nervous for their session, you’d never know it. It was all smiles and love – and laughs. I worked my magic to make the whole session feel natural and comfortable. Some couples are worried about having to pose a certain way, but it’s really all about you and your chemistry. I’m just a fly on a wall. The goal is to make your photos look and feel natural.
Looking ahead to the wedding, Ashley and Gabby envision saying “I do” in a room full of the people they love most, cherishing this once-in-a-lifetime moment together.
Thank you, Ashley and Gabby, for the privilege of being your engagement photographer. Congratulations on your big day!
