Happy engagement!
Now that you’ve finally said yes (yaassssss!), it’s time to choose your engagement session locations. Of course, I’ve skipped a few steps, but you get the idea.
Engagement sessions with my clients are one of the best parts of my job. My couples get a chance to get to know me a little better, and we also get some relaxed and creative portraits before the big day. The anticipation builds!
The photos from your engagement session can be used for various reasons, such as “save-the-date” cards, guests signing books at your reception, home decor, or your wedding website. Whatever reason you choose, the right location makes a difference. Your location can be somewhere sentimental or somewhere convenient. The choice is yours. My clients usually have a great idea of the location they want and do an excellent job at choosing.
I’ve taken the time to curate a list of some of my favorite locations for engagement sessions. I hope you love them as much as I do!

Dallas Arts District
If you’re looking for a chic urban vibe for your photos, then Dallas Arts District is definitely for you! It’s located in the northeast corner of downtown Dallas and is the largest urban arts district in the nation, spanning 68 acres and 19 connecting blocks. This means tons of spots for us to get some great shots, haha! That rhymes! Dallas Arts District allows you to choose between contemporary high-rise buildings with cobblestone-paved promenades or perfectly manicured lawns with vine-draped walls.

Deep Ellum
Nothing says “I love you” better than an engagement photo session at Deep Ellum. No, I mean it, literally, there’s a mural with the words “I love you” that makes for the perfect photo. I especially love Deep Ellum because it’s fun and diverse. It’s not your story-book location, but if you enjoy art, then you’ll see the beauty this site has to offer. It’s the epitome of Dallas vibes. With countless murals and bold colors, it is the perfect engagement photoshoot spot for art lovers or anyone who’s looking for a unique backdrop.

Turtle Creek
Like a scene from a novel, Turtle Creek is picturesque and fit for an engagement photo session. We can start our session in front of the romantic, castle-like structure called Arlington Hall or make our way across the garden and onto the boardwalk overlooking the creek. The location is beautiful, with numerous spots for flawless photos, including magical gazebos.

Grapevine Lake
Lovers of the outdoors will appreciate Grapevine Lake for their engagement photos. I know I sure do. At Grapevine Lake, you’re surrounded by beautiful greenery and the lakeshore. This is one of my favorite spots as it always has fantastic lighting, and the nature preserve is massive! If you know your way around, it’s not too hard to find great hidden spots away from the crowds to sneak in those hugs and smooches during your photo session.

White Rock Lake
My clients, who I like to call “waterbirds,” chose White Rock Lake for apparent reasons. It’s the perfect seaside spot for your engagement photo session. It offers beautiful views, from grassy fields to wooded areas, lakeside docks, and even a cute boathouse. I’d have to say my favorite spot is by the boardwalk in front of the boathouse. Depending on the side of the lake you are on, you can see downtown Dallas in the background or the most delightful pier on the other side of the lake.
While this is definitely not an exhaustive list, it’s meant to give you an idea of some of the best places to have an engagement session in Dallas, Fort Worth. No matter which location you choose, the best photos will come from the chemistry between you and your partner, so my advice is to relax and have fun with it!
