Oh, Leah and Jake… This sweet couple connected with me through Jake’s sister Lauren, who also is a photographer and was originally going to do their engagement session. But “thanks Covid-19”, she wasn’t able to travel from CO, so instead she found me, and I’m so honored that as a photographer herself, she trusted me to take care of her brother and soon to be sister in law.
From the first phone call with Leah, we instantly connected, and I knew this session would be amazing. They checked all the boxes: “Must love animals,” “Must share the same values,” “Must love all humans,” “Must laugh at my lame jokes.” I can’t repeat this enough, but when you (as the couple) have a connection with your photographer, magic will happen!
It did take us four reschedules to finally make the session happen – thanks to the bipolar Texas weather. Seriously! Leah and Jake’s typical day off is Wednesday, and four weeks in a row, every other day was all sunny while Wednesday’s poured rain.
While FINALLY having a sunny Wednesday, I kid you not; it started pouring hard WHILE I was driving to their session. For a second, I got discouraged, but when I called Leah, she told me that there was no rain on their end, so I told them we would go to the location and hope for the best, haha!
And my my… That was the best decision ever! While dark clouds surrounded us, the day ended with the most beautiful, post-rain sunset with pastel colors. I’m so happy we didn’t postpone because we rarely get beautiful skies like this!
I’m kind of selfishly happy that Lauren had to book me for this beautiful couple’s session instead of doing it herself – I got myself new friends who I can’t wait to get together for a game night AND scored some gorgeous photos! <3
Leah and Jake, I’m so honored I got to meet you and give you photographs to cherish for a lifetime. I really can’t wait to spend some more time with you two for double dates and game nights. And Lauren, thank you for being such a rockstar and bringing us together! <3
LEAH AND JAKE ARE ENGAGED Y’ALL!!!!
