When Two Tattoo Artists Fall In Love
What do you get when two fantastic artists who also happen to be music people decide to get married and be photographed by the award-winning Dallas wedding photographer Tara Arseven? The answer is the gorgeous vintage-themed celebration of Jamie and Eric, two wonderful tattoo artists’ wedding.
As a Dallas wedding photographer, I’ve had a chance to document many weddings. I would dare to say that this is one of my favorites. Everything from our initial meeting until the moment we hugged goodbye at the end of my coverage – I felt (and still feel!) fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such an amazing couple. Special thanks to Jasna, Jamie’s maid of honor, who’s also a wedding photographer, for the referral <3
From the 100-year-old venue to the vintage wedding décor, everything came together to create a magical day. Grab your bubbly! Here we go!
- The Wedding Venue
There are many reasons why The Eagle Historic Warehouse was the perfect venue for this couple’s wedding. I love it when couples choose a venue that works perfectly with their wedding theme.
Holding a vintage wedding at a venue dating back to 1911 is about as ideal as it gets. The atmosphere, ambiance, and architecture were perfect. I especially loved the vaulted ceilings and brick surfaces.
- Getting Ready
I started the day capturing Jamie and Eric as they got ready for their beautiful day. Jamie looked drop-dead gorgeous as Ladonna Stein did her hair and makeup. I always love capturing details like invitations, wedding rings, bridal boots, and wedding dresses, so I got those done first. Jamie’s mom and bridesmaids helped her get ready and put on her dress.
Next, I captured Eric and his groomsmen as they got ready for the wedding. Decked out in a black dress shirt and black suit, he stood out from his groomsmen with their white dress shirts. It created just the right amount of contrast, and you could see the bond as they helped him get ready. With his suit and tie done, it was time for the first look.
- First Look
I love first looks at weddings for many reasons. They are fun and relaxing for the couple. They also give me an excellent opportunity to capture lovely pictures of everyone while they are fresh and excited for the day.
Most of all, however, I love the look on the couple’s faces when they get to see each other. Jamie and Eric looked like all their dreams had just come true at that moment. It was a beautiful and emotional time.
- Wedding Ceremony
Wedding ceremonies barely ever entirely go according to plan. However, I am not sure this couple would have thought they’d forget their rings elsewhere (lol! It happens!). As the wedding photographer, I always have a free-range permit (unless it’s a church wedding). I’m pretty sure nobody noticed when I grabbed the rings and just casually handed them to one of Jamie’s bridesmaids as I made my way closer to the altar, taking photos at the same time. Everything was beautiful, emotional, and memorable. We had quite a few happy tears as they exchanged their vows.
- Wedding Day Photoshoot
As a wedding photographer, I love to capture candid moments. This is where I fade into the background and take beautiful pictures of people showing real emotions. The results are breathtaking images of genuine moments that you cannot otherwise replicate. It is very worth it.
However, I also love taking posed portraits of the wedding couple. Everyone deserves to have beautiful photos from their wedding day where they look like they’re on the front cover of a magazine. I’ve discovered that these pictures most often make it to the photo wall and work desks.
After Jamie and Eric had their ceremony, I took pictures of the couple with family, loved ones, and their wedding party. This also included their two lovely dogs, Pearl and Benji. Oh my… Those two were so sweet and friendly – if I didn’t have to work, I probably could have cuddled them both all day! <3
Having the doggos as part of their wedding added a beautiful and unique touch to their ceremony. I also had a lovely time documenting the couple by themselves. Just one look at these images will show you how very much in love this couple is. They looked wonderful!
- Wedding Reception
The antique brass and vintage décor at this couple’s celebration really made their venue pop. However, I really enjoyed capturing the emotions and joyful celebrations, surrounded by loved ones who were delighted to be around. It made every moment from the cake cutting to the first dance wonderful.
The speeches and the father-bride/mother-groom dances were also beautiful, and when it was time for the open dance floor, Jamie spun her tracks. But then again, Jamie and Eric are both music people, so it was to be expected, hehe! Everyone had a wonderful time.
- Final Words
I had a lovely time at this Eagle Historic Warehouse wedding. I am so happy that I got to be a part of the celebration. Thank you for trusting me to document the special moment at your wedding Jamie and Eric. I knew that I would love to work with you from that first phone call, and I did. I wish you both the very best now and always. I can’t wait to hang out with you two again when I make my way to Austin for my April 2022 wedding!! <3
