Today I have another fabulous engagement session that will warm your heart on this weirdly cold and cloudy day!
Nowadays, we millennials *ehem proud millennial here* put all those dating apps to use! 10 years ago it was taboo to meet people online and get married. But today it’s just another way of meeting new people. As a Dallas engagement photographer, I lost count of folks that met on dating apps I photographed weddings for haha! Laura and Alex are another Bumble success story! Bumble seems to be the most common app – for those who wonder! 😉
For their first date, Laura and Alex went to grab some coffee at the Drugstore Cowboy in Deep Ellum on a random Thursday.
Their first date was just meant to be coffee. Quick and simple *teehee*. But Laura wanted to extend the date and asked if Alex would want to share dinner and then Alex asked if she’d like to join him for a concert the following night and the rest is history!
As Deep Ellum holds a special place in their heart, they decided to do their engagement session there with me.
Alex knew she was the one when he started missing her in between his travels. Laura jokes about how she knew he was the one probably 3 months before he knew.
After dating for a while, they decided to move in together and Alex proposed to Laura the day they moved in to their new home. He forced her to stop unpacking so they could sit in the jacuzzi, pop some bubbly and celebrate. It was there where Alex not only popped the bubbly but also popped the question. It was perfect, intimate and just the two of them.
As their wedding on October 2021 approaches fast, they’re both very excited to FINALLY be surrounded by their family and friends, and celebrate their marriage.
Alex’s favorite part of the session is the photos we took in front of one of Preston Pannek‘s amazing murals while Laura very much enjoyed interacting with the people who were celebrating Cinco de Mayo that day.
Oh boy… Speaking of Cinco de Mayo… Did I tell y’all our “parking spotting adventure”? Yeah… Deep Ellum is usually VERY calm on random Wednesdays and I do all my engagement sessions during the week. Not this one! When we all arrived at my “usual meeting spot” there was not a single spot to park our cars so lost around 20 minutes in between finding parking, waiting in line to pay for parking (yes, that literally happened!), and then walking back to the actual session location.
After the session was over and we all went our separate ways, Laura texted me, “Tara! It’s freaking Cinco de Mayo! That’s why everyone is out today! ????????????♀️” Note taken, no more Deep Ellum sessions on Cinco de Mayo!! Hahaha!
Laura and Alex, I’m so happy to be your photographer for your wedding. I loved hanging out with you two for your engagement sessions! If your wedding is anything like your engagements… I CAN NOT WAIT!!!
Laura and Alex are engaged y’all!!
