Like most couples, Alina and Shawn had to change the plans for their 2020 wedding. Instead of postponing it, they decided to downsize and do a micro wedding with their family and closest friends instead, and just two weeks before their celebration, they booked me while searching for a Dallas elopement photographer.
They chose House of Dirt for their minimony, which is a perfect location for smaller weddings. From the decor to the intimate feel of this venue, everything was perfect for Alina and Shawn’s celebration.
They planned to have their first look, followed by some portraits.
The House of Dirt has some great decor that allows for creative angles for photography which is a sweet addition to a small wedding.
They also have an amazing greenhouse feeling, which gave even more photo opts.
I will admit, those small weddings are growing on me each and everyday. I’m digging the fact that I can have a conversation with each guest, I can actually capture the action from a single angle without having to run around in circles – and most of all – everybody there is the closest to the couple, so it’s always cozy. Like home!
Despite having the ceremony at noon, The House of Dirt’s angles and white structure made the noon sun much more easy on the photos by reflecting and filling in the shadows!
The cake cutting and speeches followed the ceremony…
And probably my favorite moment of the day, “virtual messages” from family and friends from back home.
After the civil ceremony, Alina and Shawn also had their religious ceremony at the Jamatkhana of Plano.
I will always love how gorgeous my South Asian couples look in their traditional attire. Having this diversity was one reason why I packed up all my stuff in Turkiye and moved across the world. I mean Turkish weddings are so much fun but having the diversity and cultural experiences from all around the world – now that’s a wedding photographer’s dream!
Especially when you have a wonderful couple as Alina and Shawn.
I mean, look at them! I’ve been looking at those images for almost a week now; in between culling, editing, blogging and preparing their gallery… I’m SWOONING over how pretty and elegant everything is!
Alina and Shawn, I’m so happy you found me just days away from your wedding and I’m even happier that I was available to capture your special day for you. We had very little time before you two tied the knot but I feel like we’ve been friends for a while already. Thank you so much for picking me out of a gazillion other photographers you could have chose to work with! I look forward to giving you guys a real hug sometime in the future instead of air hugs! 🙂
ALINA AND SHAWN ARE MARRIED Y’ALL!!
