The most favorite thing about being a wedding photographer is the fact I get to meet new people! In 2019, we attended the LGBT Wedding Expo of Dallas and were excited to meet with so many couples. I’d have to say it was WAY more crowded than what I expected, and it was a little overwhelming. Somehow we lucked out; Sam and Shelby eyed our booth from far away, and with the first “hello!” our friendship started to grow. The expo was so crowded and there were people heading towards my booth. We had clicked so well, I didn’t want to lose them. So we exchanged contact information to get in touch later.
We first became IG friends, and later we got together at my studio for a night of movies and pizza. Back then, we weren’t even talking booking me for their wedding; we were enjoying the new friendship. It’s been barely a year since we befriended each other, and we already have a ton of great memories together! I was introduced to the “cowboy bar” concept by Sam and Shelby… I attended my first bachelorette party for theirs… The countless double dates we got the spend time and get to know each other even better…
A few months later, Sam messaged me out of nowhere.
“Girl, you’re getting booked up quickly – we want to secure you for our wedding! Like, right now!”
Just like that, my friends booked me to be their wedding photographer.
Nobody knew the plans would get delayed due to a virus. Sam and Shelby happily did a “candid minimony” at their home and I happily photographed it. Then we waited until things settled down to do their actual wedding. Of course, it was downsized, but it was beautiful with all their family and friends there to celebrate them.
Nothing stopped Sam and Shelby from enjoying their wedding, celebrating love, and sharing joy with their loved ones.
Their ceremony was intimate, genuine, full of happy tears and laughter.
While spending so much time with Sam and Shelby before their wedding, I also got the spend time and got to know their core friend group.
I mean, look at them all excited, cheering for their best friends!
Sam’s mom’s tribute was probably the most emotional moment of the day, and it got the whole room crying. We miss her dearly <3
And my favorite part – the newlywed portraits!
Part of my job is to entertain people and capture those genuine laughs. But Sam and Shelby could also quickly snap out of the waves of laughter and go back to their badass model selves. I mean, LOOK AT THEM!!!
Then back to our goofy selves with nose wrinkling from the big laughs!
Sam and Shelby – there aren’t enough words to describe how thankful I am for your friendship. Really! You two have been one more reason for me to love and call Dallas my home. I can’t wait for this whole pandemic to be over so we can hang out and I can hug you guys like there’s no tomorrow!
LOVE YOU BOTH!! <3
