A few weeks back we celebrated Rita and Jay’s wedding at The Castle at Rockwall. We started their day with the detail and getting ready shots. Rita’s details were simply elegant and her wedding colors were probably the perfect combination with dark teal and gold.

The Castle at Rockwall is pretty easy for a photographer to navigate. Both getting ready suites are on the same floor – which allows us to go back and forth during getting ready to make sure we capture everything!

Every couple is different and not one wedding timeline will fit all. Because Rita and Jay’s wedding ceremony was going to start after the sunset, they wanted to do a first look then continue with family photos and couple’s portraits.

When they first saw each other, their reaction was the sweetest thing!

The golden hour is probably my favorite time for the couple’s portraits. Whether you’re doing a first look or not – I will always help my couples to navigate their day and land their portrait session around this magical hour!

The Castle of Rockwall also has the prettiest golden hour!

After the portrait hour, Rita and Jay went back to their suite for their final preparations before the ceremony.

Rita’s father officiated their wedding and it was one of the most emotional and sweet ceremonies to date!

This may not be the technically most perfect photo – but emotionally – it is PERFECT – reflecting everyone’s happiness!

Rita’s sister sang their first dance song. Everything about this wedding was intimate and well thought!

And of course, you know it’s Queen that’s playing when all the air guitars come out!! Hahaha 🙂

This final image is probably one of my favorites up to date. I LOVE it when my couples trust me and my crazy ideas! When I asked Rita if she’d ditch her getaway Uber and instead go out north into the darkness for a few star photos – she did not blink! Right after the exit, we all got in my car and headed out north, following the light pollution map – to find a spot that was away from the city lights. I’m pretty positive the few cars that drove by thought we were batshit crazy – and I’m totally ok with that! The results are well worth it! 🙂

Thank you, Rita and Jay, for trusting us to capture your day and allowing us to be part of your party! We had so much fun getting to know you and we are looking forward to seeing you again sometime soon!
Happy wedding day lovebirds!
