As your Dallas proposal photographer, I absolutely love proposals because they are so romantic, meaningful and it is the unfolding of a story that will be told over and over until you are holding hands in your rocking chairs in the golden years. But, don’t mind me, I get ahead of myself… LOL!
I am constantly contacted by amazing humans in love, planning to propose but needing a little help. Some need help with proposal ideas; some wonder how the photography can happen without ruining the surprise or need reassuring that it will be an epic moment. So let me run you through this, so you relax.
Dallas Proposal Ideas
When it comes to proposing, the setting is the first step, and a quiet, private place is best. I’m not a fan of proposing at dinner because there are too many people around, and I feel like the crowd is a distraction for my couples. Why not propose in a pretty park or garden area, at the Arboretum, while having a romantic picnic on the grass or rooftop with inspiring views?
Oh, while talking about rooftops… I actually have access to a beautiful Dallas rooftop with the most beautiful Dallas skyline view. We can totally arrange flowers, drinks, or anything else you might want to help elevate the moment. Quirky and interesting spots like a bookstore, art gallery, your favorite coffee shop, the place you first met, or the zoo… The possibilities are endless, and we can totally make your proposal YOURS.
Proposals don’t have to be over the top with helicopter rides and fireworks. There are sentimental gestures that you can give your love. How about framing a poem written in calligraphy? Forget Ikea and buy an antique frame that will become a treasured family heirloom. Do you love playing GeoCaching? Let’s place clues all over your favorite location and let them figure it out – at the end, they’ll have something to keep *wink wink* if you know what I mean!
Get creative and incorporate little details from your relationship. You can do so many beautiful things around a proposal, and this is your chance to show how much you love your person!
Photography
For proposals, there are two ways to plan the proposal photography.
- You tell your partner you booked a photoshoot (or get a friend or family member to “fake gift” the shoot to really throw your partner off any suspicions). This is my preferred way because he/she is dressed up and wearing a favorite outfit. It also makes more of an experience, and we get more nice images for you. We can do a photoshoot near the proposal area beforehand.
- I hide at the proposal area and take photos as you propose, and then we take more photos afterward. We just need to make sure there’s a structure or tree that will hide me. Have you met me? No? I can totally be Hagrid’s sister *see what I did there HP fans?* – tall and strong – so let’s make sure to meet ahead of time and location scout to make sure I can actually hide somewhere hehe! 😉
Confidence
Being a Dallas proposal photographer, I understand proposing can evoke feelings of nervousness, and it is natural. I like to say it means you are proposing to the right person. Imagine if you could present that sparkly rock without your heart beginning to beat faster – that’s impossible!
