Y’all. When I tell you that this downtown skyline rooftop proposal was gold, I mean it was literally GOLDEN. Working as a Dallas Wedding Photographer throughout this beautiful city, I get to photograph so many beautiful couples, at the best locations, in the most glorious light during the golden hour. This couple, plus the location and timing, made Courtney’s surprise proposal to Mel one for the books…or blog 😉
If you’ve been single at any point in your life- like most of us have, you’ve probably at least wondered about online dating apps. Like, how effective are they? What’s the success rate? Or, can I really find the love of my life on Bumble? While I can’t answer those questions for you (’cause I’m a wedding photographer and not a matchmaker!), I can point you to one gorgeous couple who found everything they needed and more after swiping right one night.
Talk about a leap of faith! While Courtney was in Birmingham, AL, she decided to swipe on Bumble out of boredom for work. Out of everyone else in today’s crowded online dating scene, Courtney and Mel’s paths crossed, and they had an immediate connection with the conversation that lasted for hours, followed by a date planned for the next day. When Courtney told her friends about this wonderful human, they made jokes about how Mel sounded too good to be true and how she could be a catfish. The next day Courtney got to the pizza place to meet Mel for the first time:
“I was a little nervous because I didn’t know what to expect or if a different person was going to walk through the doors, haha! Once I saw her walk through the doors, my heart skipped a beat because she was even more beautiful in person and was real!”
They ended spending the entire night talking and kept meeting every day until Courtney had to fly back home. When I asked, Courtney said she knew that Mel was “the one” when they decided to move in together. It’s like that saying: ‘You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.’ Ahh, love *deep sigh*.
Fast forward to the proposal this Fall. Tall buildings and a gorgeous sunset really set the mood for these two. What started out as an evening date turned out to be one of the most beautiful moments Courtney and Mel will share, and the photos speak a thousand words. Thousands of words, actually. I couldn’t stage the looks or the tears if I tried.
Courtney and Mel plan to elope in some beautiful, far away destination location. Low-key (okay- not so low-key) I hope they let me tag along. My passport and suitcase are already packed, haha!! I can only imagine the love that’ll be in the air that day.
Thanks for inviting me to your proposal, ladies! I wish you two all the sunset vibes and love forever!
