Planning a surprise proposal is stressful enough without having to wonder if your photographer actually knows what they're doing. I've put together answers to the questions I hear most, but if something's not covered here, just shoot me an email at hello@taraarseven.com and we'll figure it out together.

What happens after the proposal?

Once they say "yes," I'll approach and introduce myself. We can then transition into a brief engagement session to capture your first moments of celebration together. This is included in your proposal collection.

How much does proposal photography cost?

My proposal collections begin at $600. Each collection includes planning assistance, proposal coverage, and a mini-engagement session afterward. Payment plans are available through Affirm.

What happens if my partner spots you?

No need to worry - I'm well-versed in maintaining discretion. I have several tried-and-true techniques to appear as a casual photographer in the area. If noticed, I smoothly pivot to appear as though I'm photographing the scenery or architecture. Worse case, I start talking on the phone in Turkish - with many hand gestures, looking around like I'm lost. Nobody will suspect a thing, lol!

Can you help plan the proposal location?

Absolutely. With extensive knowledge of Dallas and destination locations, I can recommend picturesque spots that photograph beautifully while ensuring privacy for your special moment. We'll scout the location in advance to plan the best angles and lighting.

What if it rains?

We'll discuss weather contingencies during our planning session and have alternative locations ready. If needed, we can smoothly pivot to an equally beautiful indoor location or reschedule without additional fees.

How long does a proposal session last?

I can accomplish a lot in 30 minutes, but if you need more time, you can add additional hours to your booking. This typically includes the proposal itself and a mini-engagement session afterward to capture your first moments as an engaged couple.

What's your experience with proposal photography?

I've been documenting proposals since 2007, and I've seen just about everything. The ones that go perfectly according to plan, the ones that don't, and the ones that turn into something even better than expected. That experience means I know how to anticipate what's coming, stay out of the way until it matters, and handle anything unexpected without missing a beat.

How do you stay hidden during the proposal?

I'm pretty good at disappearing into a scene. Telephoto lens from a distance, a fake tourist asking for directions, a fellow diner minding my own business, an architecture photographer who is definitely not watching you two. Whatever the situation calls for, I'll figure it out. And if all else fails, see the Turkish phone call method above.

When will we receive our photos?

You'll receive a few select highlights within 24 hours - perfect for your announcement posts. Your complete gallery will be delivered within 2-4 weeks through a private online gallery where you can download, share, and order prints.

How do we ensure timing is perfect?

We'll build out a detailed timeline together before the day, with backup options built in. I'll get there early to scout positioning, and we can coordinate the moment however works best for you, whether that's a text, a signal, or live location sharing through iMessage or WhatsApp.

Do you have backup equipment?

Always. I bring multiple professional cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment to every session. This redundancy ensures I never miss a moment, even in unexpected technical situations.

Can we keep the proposal a secret?

Always. I take the surprise seriously and won't post, tag, or share anything until you give me the green light. Your moment is yours to announce on your own timeline.
