Natalie and Spencer
Natalie and Spencer are the kind of couple that make my job so much fun. They are playful and sweet, but also incredibly steady with each other. And no, they did not show up magically knowing how to pose. No one does. We joked around, I guided them through simple movements instead of awkward posing, and before they knew it, they were not thinking about the camera at all. That is always when the real magic happens.

Their mornings are elite. Whoever rolls out of bed first is responsible for making the coffee and hand-delivering a latte with a kiss as payment, lol. And then the cats join for mandatory morning cuddles. No one is allowed to move until the cats decide they have had enough pets, and their humans are allowed to go about their day. Those slow mornings are rare right now since Natalie works twelve-hour night shifts and Spencer runs a traditional nine-to-five, which makes this season of engagement feel even more intentional.

Their first connection started over music. A debate about which Big Shiny Tunes album deserved top-tier status somehow turned into a conversation that never really stopped. She leans Swiftie. He leans country. Against all odds, it works perfectly.
They love a cozy night in with takeout, whatever show they are currently invested in, and cat cuddles on repeat. Spencer has developed a passion for smoking meat and would absolutely serve prime rib if you came over for dinner. Natalie would handle the sourdough and quietly pray that her starter behaves. It is very much a team effort, and it suits them.

Why the Armstrong Browning Library Is Perfect for Engagement Photos
The Armstrong Browning Library at Baylor University is one of those places that does not photograph as it feels in person. It is even better. The stained-glass windows pour in the kind of light that photographers dream about. The marble floors, the carved ceilings, the scale of it all. It feels cinematic without trying too hard.
It is dramatic, but not intimidating. Elegant, but not stiff. You can have architectural grandeur and still laugh, still move, still be yourselves. That balance is rare, and this space does it beautifully.

Every turn gives you another frame-worthy backdrop. We would take a few shots, flip the camera around, and immediately gasp. When your couple and your photographer are both reacting like that mid-session, you know you are onto something good.
This location does not carry the session. It elevates it. And when you pair it with a couple like Natalie and Spencer, it becomes magic.

Making a Day of It
We arrived at Natalie and Spencer’s house in Bedford, which meant I got to meet the kitties at last. Mr. Beans immediately stole the spotlight with his high-pitched purr, as he should. There was coffee, a little pre-road trip chit chat, and then we hit the road.
I have a very simple rule for destination sessions that are a bit of a drive. You drive, I snooze in the back. It keeps me from charging a travel fee and from resenting the long drive behind the wheel – IYKYK, I hate driving, lol! This way, everyone wins. I get to rest. They get gorgeous photos. We get extra bonding time. It is honestly one of my favorite ways to start a session.

We headed down to Waco for their engagement session at the Armstrong Browning Library, and from the moment we walked in, we knew it was going to be special.
One of the best parts was that it never felt rushed. We made a day of it. We wandered through the library, paused to admire the light, laughed between shots, and celebrated how good everything was turning out in real time. That is the energy I love.

As much as I adore Dallas, I have photographed just about every photo-worthy corner of DFW at this point. Exploring new locations with my couples keeps everything fresh and creative for me. It turns the session into an experience instead of just another stop on a checklist.
Afterward, we piled back into Spencer’s truck and drove home, already talking about their May wedding. It felt less like wrapping up a job and more like ending a really good day.

Planning Your Own Armstrong Browning Library Engagement Session
If you are considering an engagement session at the Armstrong Browning Library in Waco, Texas, there are a few important things to know.
First, you do need a photography permit to shoot there, and there is a fee to reserve the space for portraits. It is absolutely worth it for the access and setting, but it is something to plan in advance. I always recommend reaching out early to secure your date since availability can be limited.
The architecture already brings the drama, so classic, neutral outfits photograph beautifully in the space. Clean lines and soft fabrics really shine against the marble and stained glass. Movement also looks incredible here. Twirls, dips, and slow walks through the hallways let the space frame you naturally.
Most importantly, treat it like an experience, not just a backdrop. Build time into your day. Grab coffee beforehand. Make it a mini road trip. The best images happen when you are relaxed, unhurried, and actually enjoying yourselves.
Natalie and Spencer’s session was the perfect mix of cinematic setting and genuine connection. I drove home tired in the best way and even more excited for their wedding in May than I already was.
