Ah, wedding detail photos! I adore planning them, shooting them, and editing them. Perhaps I love the detailed imagery more than the dancing, cake, or champagne. And yes, I am obsessed!
Let’s look at the wedding details to consider as part of your wedding photography process.
Invitation Suite
The wedding suite is your invitation and all the pretty paper stationery such as maps, envelopes, save the date cards and rsvp cards. Usually, this is a flat lay image with some text highlighted and relevant items added to make it look wow. Stamps, leaves, ribbon, feathers, flowers, or even glitter come in handy to express the wedding day’s vibe through the invitation suite photos.
Florals
For styling detail shots, flowers are blooming fab. Ask your florist or wedding planner for a little bunch of flowers matching your bouquet or ceremony flowers if possible. (Your hairdresser might want some too.) If they can be delivered to your room before I arrive, it would be fantastic.
Family Heirlooms
What could be more sentimental and unforgettable than a family heirloom when it comes to gorgeous detail shots?
It could be an old photo, piece of jewelry, fabric or china, or even an ornament from grandma that goes with your wedding theme. You don’t need to be doing the whole something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue tradition to incorporate family heirlooms into your Dallas wedding photography detail shots.
If in doubt, bring a little collection along because I will be in heaven looking through the styling options.
Jewelry
Jewelry makes for gorgeous wedding detail photos, which every wedding album should include rings and other bridal accessories showcased in all their sparkly glory. Often I will photograph the rings alone and worn so you will have your hand model moment and get a memory of your perfect manicure as well as the bling.
Shoes
I confess I get super excited over bridal shoes. Even though they hide under your dress, shoes add a glam factor to the day that starts when I get my hands on them for the detail shots. From bejeweled designer heels to chic satin flats – I can’t get enough. Detail shots of shoes look great alone or with other elements added.
After you tell me about your wedding day venue, style, and vision, I will choose your props from my collection like backdrops, ring boxes, ribbons, stamps, dishes for jewelry, and various antique trays. Oh yeah, I have a giant rolling case full of accessories to use for my flat lay photos!
My styling kit is a complimentary service that also gives me an excuse to go shopping for pretty accessories for my wedding couple’s detail shots. I’m always on the lookout for one-of-a-kind items to add to my collection.
Having these gorgeous detail shots elevates your wedding album to a new level. You don’t need all of them, but consider which ones might suit the style and vibe of your wedding day.
